The visa · Part B: The money

How much money must be shown, and in whose name?

Short answer: At least €10,179.85 for each year of study, from lawful and traceable sources (MUR circular). The old figure of about €6,900 is out of date and still everywhere online.

In whose name

Yours, or your sponsor's, or both. The checklist asks for your own 12 month bank statement from a bank operating in Bangladesh, and separately for your sponsor's 12 month statement with proof of where the money comes from (Dhaka checklist). If you have worked, your own salary history in your own account is the strongest thing you can show, because nobody else has to explain it.

A floor, not a budget

€10,179.85 a year is the visa minimum. Rent alone runs from about €444 a month in Trento to about €704 in Milan (living costs). Work out your real yearly cost, and if it comes to more than the floor, show the larger number.

What the embassy looks at

In its own framing: where the money came from, how the account moved, whether it fits your family's income and assets, and whether it will still be there for the rest of your course.

The program answers are B24, M30 and P24.

This page explains official rules in plain language. I am not an immigration adviser and I do not give visa advice. For that, always use official government sources. Rules change: confirm with your university, the embassy and VFS before you act.
