The visa · Part E: Myths, and what actually happens
What actually happens at the VFS appointment?
Short answer: You do not book it. VFS emails students whose pre enrolment has been validated, at the address on the Universitaly account (Embassy notice).
| City | VFS Italy centre |
|---|---|
| Dhaka | Nafi Tower, 4th and 5th floor, 53 South Gulshan Avenue, Gulshan 1 |
| Chattogram | World Trade Center, 5th floor, 102/103 Agrabad C/A |
| Sylhet | Nirvana Inn Complex, 4th floor, Ramer Dighir Par, Mirzajungle Road |

On the day
- Bring originals and copies of everything (V5).
- Fingerprints are taken. They have been mandatory for national visas since 11 January 2025 (MUR circular).
- You pay the visa fee, usually listed at €50 (Embassy of Italy Budapest), plus the VFS service charge.
- The appointment itself is free. Only the fees are payable, and only at the centre.
How long the decision takes from Dhaka: I do not know
The embassy publishes no processing time for Dhaka, and it varies through the year. Other Italian missions warn that a study visa can take up to 90 days. Plan in weeks rather than days, and ask VFS what they are seeing on the day you hand in your file.
Use an email address you actually read
The VFS email goes to the Universitaly address and nowhere else. This small thing has cost people a year.
This page explains official rules in plain language. I am not an immigration adviser and I do not give visa advice. For that, always use official government sources. Rules change: confirm with your university, the embassy and VFS before you act.
