The visa · Part D: What a visa file has to stand up to

Document authenticity

This is a published rule, and a criminal matter. Forging documents, signatures and seals is prosecuted (Embassy of Italy Dhaka). Universities must report false academic documents to the authorities, to the embassy and to CIMEA (MUR circular).

What that actually means

A fake document is not a gamble with a refusal at the end of it. Three separate bodies can act on it: the embassy, the university, and CIMEA, which is the national centre that verifies qualifications. A reported false document does not stay inside one application, and it does not stay inside one year.

Where this goes wrong without anyone intending it

Not every authenticity problem is a forgery:

  • An agency "improves" a document without telling you. You signed the file, so it is your file. Read every page before you sign anything.
  • A certificate carries two apostilles. Only one per document is accepted (Dhaka checklist).
  • A name is spelled differently across documents, so a paper looks altered when it is only inconsistent (V5).
  • A translation is done by someone not authorised. The Dhaka embassy lists its authorised translators (Embassy of Italy Dhaka).

The one line in this guide with no qualification on it

If your documents do not yet support an application, the answer is to wait and fix them. A clean file next year beats a false file this year, and a false file can cost you the years after it as well.

This page explains official rules in plain language. I am not an immigration adviser and I do not give visa advice. For that, always use official government sources. Rules change: confirm with your university, the embassy and VFS before you act.
