The visa · Part D: What a visa file has to stand up to
Financial strength
This is a published rule, with a number. At least €10,179.85 for each year of study, from lawful and traceable sources (MUR circular).
What the rule asks for
- The amount, for each year of the course, not the first year only
- Your own 12 month bank statement from a bank operating in Bangladesh, plus other proof of solvency
- Your sponsor's 12 month statement, and proof of where the money comes from
- A relationship document, such as an apostilled birth certificate when a parent sponsors you
Source: Dhaka checklist.
What a file that meets it looks like
The amount is there. Each significant deposit has a document behind it. The sponsor's income accounts for the balance. The figure covers the length of the course.
Where files fall short
From the embassy's own framing: funds below the requirement, funds that exist but cannot be explained, and a sponsor whose income does not match the account.
The planning error that recurs most
Budgeting with the old €6,900 figure. It is in old forum posts, old agency pages and old videos. It is short by more than €3,000 a year, which is a gap you cannot close in the week before an appointment.
This page explains official rules in plain language. I am not an immigration adviser and I do not give visa advice. For that, always use official government sources. Rules change: confirm with your university, the embassy and VFS before you act.
