How does the VFS appointment work, and how long does it take?

- Fingerprints are mandatory for national visas since 11 January 2025 (MUR circular).
- Italian embassies usually list the study visa fee at €50 (Embassy of Italy Budapest), plus the VFS service charge. Appointments themselves are free (Embassy of Italy Dhaka).
- How long it takes from Dhaka: I do not know. No processing time is published. Other Italian missions warn of up to 90 days. If your ranking comes in July, file in August and do not wait.
- If the visa is late: tell your PhD office at once. Ask whether a late start is possible, and do not let the delay go unexplained.
