Master's · Part E: Money
What is the DSU scholarship, and how do I get it?
Short answer: The regional scholarship for students with limited family income: cash, a fee waiver, often a room and meals. You apply each year, in summer.
Emilia Romagna 2026/27 maximums (Regione Emilia Romagna)
| Type of student | Maximum yearly cash |
|---|---|
| Living away from home (fuori sede) | €7,171.11 |
| Commuting (pendolare) | €4,190.71 |
| Living at home (in sede) | €2,890.16 |
2026/27 deadlines: Emilia Romagna 24 August 2026 for first years; Marche 28 August 2026 (Studenti.it); Tuscany for Pisa students 7 September 2026 (University of Pisa).
- First year: based on income. Second year: you also need a set number of credits.
- Applying, or being "eligible", does not count as visa money; only an explicit award does (MUR circular).
- At Polimi a DSU award also removes the full fee rule in M21.
This page explains official rules in plain language. I am not an immigration adviser and I do not give visa advice. For that, always use official government sources. Rules change: confirm with your university, the embassy and VFS before you act.
