Bachelor's · Part B: Am I eligible?

Am I eligible with HSC, A levels or another school certificate?

Short answer: You need 12 years of school in total. Bangladesh's SSC (10 years) plus HSC (2 years) makes 12, so HSC is fine. With British qualifications you need at least three A levels.

  • The national rule: a final secondary certificate obtained after at least 12 years of schooling, for every bachelor's and single cycle degree (MUR circular).
  • O and A levels: O levels alone are not enough. Universities ask for at least three A levels in three different subjects, related to the course (University of Pisa, Università San Raffaele).
  • Fewer than 12 years? Then you need one or two years of university study, a post secondary qualification, or an Italian foundation course to fill the gap (University of Padova).
  • Unusual paths such as a polytechnic diploma or a madrasa certificate are judged case by case. Email the admissions office before you pay any fee.
  • Subjects matter too. An engineering course may expect maths and physics at HSC level. Check the course page.

This page explains official rules in plain language. I am not an immigration adviser and I do not give visa advice. For that, always use official government sources. Rules change: confirm with your university, the embassy and VFS before you act.
