Bachelor's · Part A: Decide
What does a bachelor's in Italy cost?
Short answer: Tuition at a public university is usually the smaller part of the bill. Rent and living costs are the big part. For the visa you must show at least €10,179.85 per year (MUR circular).
| Cost | What to expect | More detail |
|---|---|---|
| Tuition at a public university | From a few hundred euros (low income country rates, scholarship waiver) to the university's maximum | B17 |
| Single room | €444 to €704 a month in the cities in the rent table | Start here |
| Health cover | €700 per calendar year for the national health service, or a private policy | B35 |
| Residence permit, first time | €116.46 | B33 |
| HSC verification | CIMEA €300, or a Declaration of Value, free for study in Dhaka | B13 |
| Visa | Study visa fee (€50 at most Italian embassies) plus the VFS service charge | B27 |
Planning estimate: with rent, expect roughly €900 to €1,200 a month in most cities and more in Milan. This is an estimate built from the rents above, not an official figure.
Bhaia's honest note: Do not plan your first months on scholarship money. The DSU result comes in autumn, payments come later, and the embassy does not count a scholarship you have only applied for. Arrive with money for at least three months.
This page explains official rules in plain language. I am not an immigration adviser and I do not give visa advice. For that, always use official government sources. Rules change: confirm with your university, the embassy and VFS before you act.
