Bachelor's · Part F: Universitaly and the visa

How much money must my family show, and who can sponsor me?

Short answer: At least €10,179.85 for each year, from lawful and traceable sources, ideally your own or your close family's (MUR circular). The old figure of about €6,900 is out of date.

  • The embassy checks where the money came from, how the account moved, and whether it fits your family's income and assets.
  • It also judges whether the money will still be there for the rest of your course.

Who can sponsor from Bangladesh: two official texts differ. The 10 June 2026 notice accepts parents, grandparents, siblings, uncles, aunts and cousins (Embassy notice). The July 2026 checklist lists parents, a person legally residing in Italy, or an institution (Dhaka checklist). For most HSC students, parents are the natural sponsor. If yours is someone else, ask the embassy (visti.dhaka@esteri.it) or VFS first and keep the reply.

What raises flags: a big deposit just before the statement with no clear source, borrowed money "parked" for the visa, or a sponsor whose income cannot explain the balance.

The money and the sponsor in full, including what "source of funds" means and why borrowed money is not an option, are in V7, V9, V11 and V12.

This page explains official rules in plain language. I am not an immigration adviser and I do not give visa advice. For that, always use official government sources. Rules change: confirm with your university, the embassy and VFS before you act.
