What can I do after my PhD?
- Stay and look for work. Graduates, including PhD holders, can ask for a permit of up to 12 months to look for work or start a business. Start before your study permit expires (Bocconi).
- Switch to a work permit. With a job offer, a study permit can be converted into a work permit at any time, without the yearly quota (YesMilano).
- Academic jobs: postdoctoral positions in Italy are advertised as public calls, like PhDs. Start watching calls in your final year.
