PhD · Part G: Before you fly
What should I pack, and what is my first week plan?
- Passport with visa, Universitaly summary, ranking or admission letter
- Apostilled master's and bachelor's certificates and transcripts
- CIMEA statements or Declaration of Value
- Scholarship award letter and any bank documents used for the visa
- Insurance policy and accommodation booking
- Marriage and children's birth certificates, if your family will join later
- Extra passport photos and prescriptions
First week: SIM and room on days 1 to 2; the PhD office and international desk on days 2 to 4 (many universities have a permit desk, per the MUR circular); the residence permit kit by working day 8 (P29); then enrolment, health cover, bank account and meeting your supervisor.
This page explains official rules in plain language. I am not an immigration adviser and I do not give visa advice. For that, always use official government sources. Rules change: confirm with your university, the embassy and VFS before you act.
