What happens in the PhD interview?

Short answer: A short session, often online, where you present your project and answer questions on your background, methods and motivation. Check the format in the call.

• Prepare a 5 minute summary of your project, and be ready to change it if the committee suggests another angle.
• Expect questions on your master's thesis, the methods you know, and why this program.
• Some programs set a minimum score. At Trento's International Studies, the interview was passed with 45 out of 60 or more (University of Trento).
