Master's · Part F: Universitaly and the visa

How much money must I show, and who can sponsor me?

Short answer: At least €10,179.85 per year, from lawful and traceable sources, ideally yours or your close family's (MUR circular). The old €6,900 figure is out of date.

  • The embassy checks where money came from, how the account moved, and whether it fits the family's income and assets, and whether it will last for your whole course.
  • If you have worked, your own salary history in your own account is strong evidence.

Who can sponsor from Bangladesh: two texts differ. The 10 June 2026 notice accepts parents, grandparents, siblings, uncles, aunts and cousins (Embassy notice). The July 2026 checklist lists parents, a person legally residing in Italy, or an institution (Dhaka checklist). If your sponsor is not a parent, ask the embassy (visti.dhaka@esteri.it) or VFS first and keep the reply.

Red flags: a big recent deposit with no clear source, borrowed money parked for the visa, or a sponsor whose income cannot explain the balance.

The money and the sponsor in full, including what "source of funds" means and why borrowed money is not an option, are in V7, V9, V11 and V12.

This page explains official rules in plain language. I am not an immigration adviser and I do not give visa advice. For that, always use official government sources. Rules change: confirm with your university, the embassy and VFS before you act.
