What is the Italian Government (MAECI) scholarship?

Short answer: A government grant for master's, AFAM, PhD and research in Italy. You apply on the Study in Italy portal.

  • The 2026/27 call closed on 26 March 2026. Grants run for 9 months, 1 November 2026 to 31 July 2027, renewable for multi year courses (Embassy of Italy Mogadishu).
  • The Italian Cultural Institute in Bangkok announced them at €1,200 a month (IIC Bangkok). Check the amount in the next call.
  • The Dhaka embassy published Bangladesh's final ranking in June 2026, so watch its news page from January.
  • Read the ineligibility rules in the call before applying.

This page explains official rules in plain language. I am not an immigration adviser and I do not give visa advice. For that, always use official government sources. Rules change: confirm with your university, the embassy and VFS before you act.
