Bangladesh is on the "particularly poor countries" list. What does that mean?
Short answer: It can make scholarship paperwork easier and fees lower. For 2026/27 the list is set by Decree no. 176 of 24 February 2026, and Bangladesh is on it (Decree list, University of Bologna copy).
- Scholarship papers: instead of full income and asset documents, you can submit a certificate from the Italian embassy or consulate saying you do not belong to a family known for high income and high social standing (Università di Scienze Gastronomiche).
- Tuition: some universities charge less, as in the Padova and Ca' Foscari examples.
- What it does not change: you still need €10,179.85 a year for the visa. The list is renewed every year.
This page explains official rules in plain language. I am not an immigration adviser and I do not give visa advice. For that, always use official government sources. Rules change: confirm with your university, the embassy and VFS before you act.
