Bachelor's · Part A: Decide

Is a bachelor's in Italy a good idea for me?

Short answer: It can be, if your family can support you honestly for three years and you are ready to live alone far from home at 18 or 19. Public tuition is low and there are need based scholarships. But there are fewer bachelor's programs taught in English than master's programs, so your choice is narrower.

What is good

  • Low fees at public universities, with reductions for Bangladeshi citizens at some universities (B17, B18).
  • The DSU regional scholarship can cover fees, a room and meals, plus cash (B19).
  • You can work up to 20 hours a week with a study permit (B37).
  • An Italian bachelor's leads straight to an Italian or European master's.

What is hard

  • You show at least €10,179.85 a year for the visa, every year you renew your permit.
  • Daily life, part time jobs and offices are mostly in Italian.
  • The embassy looks at your family's financial situation and whether the course fits your school background.
  • Being 18 and alone in a new country is real. Homesickness and exam pressure hit hard in the first year.

Bhaia's honest note: If money is tight, a strong bachelor's at home followed by a funded master's or PhD in Italy can be the smarter path. There is no shame in that plan. Many of us did exactly that.

This page explains official rules in plain language. I am not an immigration adviser and I do not give visa advice. For that, always use official government sources. Rules change: confirm with your university, the embassy and VFS before you act.
