IELTS: closing the gap
You need a particular band by a particular date. Most people are closer than they think, and the gap is usually narrower and more fixable than it feels.
Who this is for
If you're starting from a low level, a full course at a proper centre will serve you better than I will, and I'll tell you that on the first call.
If you're close to your target and losing half a band in one or two sections, that's exactly what this is for.
Start with the free course
Before you pay anyone, work through the free course. Two hundred lessons on Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking.
Most people who are losing half a band find the reason in there without needing me at all. If you still want your writing marked or a speaking partner who pushes you, that is what the rest of this page is about.
What I offer
Speaking partner
Regular practice with someone who pushes you rather than agrees with you. Full mock speaking tests with scored feedback, plus the fluency work that only comes from talking to a real person.
Marked writing
You write, I mark it properly: band-by-band feedback against the public descriptors, with the specific fixes that move you up rather than general encouragement.
Strategy and planning
Which band you actually need, how to prepare in the time you have, whether One Skill Retake makes sense for you, and when you're ready to book.
Reading and listening technique
Where the time goes, and the question types that cost people bands.
Being straight with you about my own score
On my most recent test, in July 2026, I scored 8.5 overall: Listening 9, Speaking 9, Reading 8.5, Writing 7.5. On an earlier sitting, in February 2024, I scored 9 in Reading.
So Listening, Speaking and Reading are the three where I've reached the top band, and they're where I can help you most directly. I know what a 9 in those sections actually requires, because I've had to produce one.
Writing is the honest exception. I scored 7.5, which is respectable rather than exceptional, and I'm not going to pretend otherwise. What I bring to writing is different from a high band: years of writing policy documents, research reports and published op-eds, and a lot of practice marking other people's work against stated criteria. If you need to get from 6 to 7, I can help. If you're chasing a 9 in Writing, find someone who has one.
I'm not an examiner and this isn't an official IELTS centre. It's targeted practice with detailed marking.
